New State of the Art Vet Clinic opening in the Upper Peninsula

June 18 2018

Because of the wonderful support the community has shown the Animal Medical Center of Marquette over the past 25 years, Marquette native MSHS class of 1977, Kellie Holmstrom, DVM is relocating the hospital to a larger facility. This new location will allow us to take the “pet out of petrified” and become a Fear Free certified practice. The new clinic has 8 exam rooms and features separate entrances for dogs and cats. Because we acknowledge the importance of exercise in decreasing stress, there is a park for the dogs to stretch their legs before entering our clinic and the cat suites have walking wall platforms to allow the feline patients to explore the space before starting their exam. Clients bringing in horses for treatment will find a spacious parking lot in which to maneuver their trailers.

“For the last 18 months, working closely with a Veterinary architect, we have been renovating the prior YMCA child care center to make it better experience for our clients and their pets. We are excited to partner with UPAWS to house middle aged and senior cats up for adoption,” according to Dr. Holmstrom.

In the treatment area, we have a separate space for surgery, dentistry and a special procedure room to do ultrasound and chemotherapy procedures. There is an enclosed ICU area with individual heated cages to keep sick and post-surgery patients warm and comfortable. The large air exchange unit that can be viewed from the outside allows the air to be exchanged up to every six minutes. This along with electric lift tables provide a safer work environment for the staff.

The clinic will be closed for routine appointments June 21st and 22nd, 2018. Dr. Klar will be available to treat sick patients those days and AMC will offer after hours emergency service as always. Follow us on Facebook for all the updates and stay tuned for more information on our Grand Opening for the public later this summer.

We can’t wait to welcome you to our new home!
